Since their founding in January 1989, CREW Network's mission has been to bring together women in commercial real estate to exchange information, develop business contacts and help each other succeed professionally. Today, CREW Network is the premier business network in commercial real estate with nearly 12,000 members in more than 75 markets worldwide.
In celebration of their 30th anniversary, their annual convention was held this month in Orlando. Representing Paradigm Tax Group was CREW member and Client Services Leader Carrie Williams, who is based out of our corporate headquarters in Dallas.
The three day event included networking with CREW Network members and industry leaders who spoke on topics such as personal branding, professional development and every facet of the commercial real estate industry.
But the highlight of the event was an inspiring speech by Carey Lohrenz, the first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Navy. Lohrenz is the author of the best-selling book Fearless Leadership and she shared her insight and advice gained from fighting against the odds in her career as a fighter pilot and how those lessons can be applied to women in the workforce looking to excel.
Some of the most important advice that Carey shared with the packed house included:
- We are all juggling. We are all overwhelmed every day. What is your purpose? What are you trying to accomplish? Have a good attitude. Have standards of excellence and hold your self accountable. Negative attitude will kill your drive.
- Focus on three things a day and be sure to focus on what matters.
- Everyday you have a choice to show up.
- Build tenacity, get uncomfortable and continue to push. It isn’t about being flawless but it is about sticking with it.
We want to thank CREW Network for allowing us to be a part of their 30th anniversary celebration this year and we can't wait to see what next year's event has in store.
